Indigenous Student Support
If you're studying or interested in studying at Box Hill Institute, the The Koori Liaison Officer can help you:
- Find the TAFE training you want,
- Make getting started easier,
- Get the most from your training,
- Build a path from training to employment,
- Keep in touch with campus, community and cultural events,
- Organise free personal tutoring, and
- Get in touch with learning support, counselling, welfare or youth services.
Box Hill Institute has special programs designed to meet the needs of Indigenous students – such as the eight-week ‘Stepping Up and Forward’ program.
Learning support helps with:
- Maths,
- English,
- Letter-writing,
- Resumes, and
- Assignments and study skills.
Welfare help assists with:
- Fees or deferring payment,
- Information on accommodation,
- Information for mature-aged students or students who are parents,
- Information on grants and financial assistance.
The officer helps you get the most out of your time at Box Hill Institute.
The officer writes personally to new students who identify as Indigenous. We want to keep helping you along the way. You can stay in touch by SMS, email, or telephone.
The officer is here to help if you are having trouble with your study, work or any other issues that are making it hard for you to finish your course.
