Privacy Collection Statement (Enrolment)

 

Why do we collect your information?

The information collected on any Box Hill Institute enrolment form is collected for the primary purpose of providing enrolment into the requested course of study. Other purposes of collection related to enrolment include:


 

  • For administrative purposes and to correspond with you;
  • For the purposes of undertaking Institute commissioned research and student elections;
  • To meet legal obligations and respond to emergency situations;
  • To inform you about your course or other Institute courses, events and services;
  • To confirm your entitlement to commonwealth assistance and FEE-HELP/VET FEE-HELP arrangements;
  • To invite you to participate in the Institute’s Alumni upon completion of your course;
  • To facilitate or verify the allocation of a Victorian Student Number (VSN) or CHESSN

 

To whom do we disclose the information we collect?

The information collected at enrolment may be disclosed to the following types of organisations:

 

  • Government departments eg. DEEWR, DIAC, DIIRD, the Australian Taxation Office, Centrelink, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and Skills Victoria;
  • External organisations eg. professional bodies, hospitals or government agencies, e.g. VCAA and VTAC;
  • External organisations contracted for the purposes of undertaking Institute commissioned research for the benefit of the Institute and the student body;
  • Contracted service providers which the Institute uses to perform services on its behalf;
  • To an employer or organisation sponsoring a student’s study;
  • To the parent or authorised representative of a student who is a minor (under 18);
  • Other tertiary educational institutions for results, course completion or certificate verification to facilitate your subsequent application to that institution.
     

What happens if this information is not provided?
It is not possible for your enrolment to proceed if you choose not to complete all the questions on the enrolment form.

Accessing your personal information
You have a right to access personal information that Box Hill Institute holds about you, subject to any exceptions in relevant legislation. If you wish to access your personal information or enquire as to how it is handled, please contact the Registrar, Student Administration Services by emailing studentadmin@boxhill.edu.au
 
Privacy Policy
Box Hill Institute has a Privacy Policy which outlines the ways in which we intend to meet our privacy commitments and details the procedures for making complaints under the Act.

 
Statement on Institute Photography
The Institute may on occasion take and publish photographs of students involved in Institute activities on and off campus for educational and promotional purposes, and may publish photographs in hard copy or via electronic media or on the Institute’s website.  Such photos may be viewed by the general public. If you object to your photograph being taken or wish to restrict its use, please notify the photographer at the event.
