Counselling Services

Counselling is available for all Box Hill Institute students. Face-to-face counselling is available at Nelson, Elgar and Whitehorse campuses. The counsellors work with students individually or through group programs to help them perform at their best and make the most of their studies.

Students can use the services for support with educational or personal issues.

Whether continuing or returning to study, many students experience changes in their personal lives, their careers and the way they think about the future. Understanding and adjusting to these challenges is not always easy.

The counsellors are psychologists and social workers who help people feel comfortable about sharing their problems and working towards realistic solutions. An international student counsellor provides assistance for international students in adjusting to Box Hill Institute and life in Melbourne.

Some of the reasons students seek counselling include:

  • work or study problems
  • study skills
  • lack of motivation or direction
  • stress
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • loneliness or homesickness
  • loss and grief
  • relationships
  • family difficulties
  • financial pressures
  • drug or alcohol concerns.

As an alternative to face-to-face counselling, e-counselling is also available. Students can use e-counselling 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any computer connected with the Internet. E-Counselling is available through StudentWeb.
