Student activities
Student Activities Representative Council’s (SARC) activities are a chance for students to relax and have some fun outside class time. SARC supports student representative committees, student media (magazines, the e-zine, student television program), manages student lounges and organises fun activities on campus.
SARC events are usually free and include food, competitions, giveaways and a chance to get to know SARC and student support.
SARC staff organise events and activities during lunch times across all campuses.
Day trips to various attractions and events are open to all students who are interested.
Each term has an activity theme such as Mind, Body and Spirit, in which Institute students provide free neck and hand massages using AVEDA products and fantastic live acoustic performances, as well as tarot readers, free healthy lunches, fitness tests and various other informative vendors.
For those with a sporting interest, SARC organises regular sporting competitions using local amenities in the Box Hill area.
Box Hill Institute participated in the 2009 Uni games sports competition (the first TAFE to do so) with universities from around Australia and plans to continue involvement in the annual national event.
Activities are decided from student polls, surveys and anecdotal feedback.
Activities run for the benefit of all students often include class projects and assignments from some of the wide range of specialist course areas like Events Management, Broadcast TV, Hospitality, Music, Health and Wellbeing or Sport and Fitness courses.
SARC events are a great way for students to participate in campus life and to meet people from different courses.
