Box Hill Institute understands how difficult studying can be from a financial point of view, and so is proud to announce an even bigger range of scholarships in 2010.

The Institute’s large, diverse scholarships program, giving financial help to deserving students, is one of the great benefits of its many and varied partnerships with industry and the community.

The program has grown every year, according to Scholarship coordinator Leonie Pope, and makes a real difference in students’ lives:

“Many people are keen to study but are not sure how they are going to afford the fees, books, and time away from paid employment. Our award program gives potential and existing students a way to ease that financial burden. It also rewards their hard work and develops a positive relationship between the sponsor, the student and the Institute.”

The benefit to the students is not just financial, but can open a door to the students’ ongoing relationship with the sponsor company. The recipient student’s name is immediately on the radar of potential employees for the sponsor company, which is a real head start in today’s highly competitive employment market.

IT student Amelia Ford was one such beneficiary, as the winner of the 2009 Cisco Systems – Andrew Jackson Memorial scholarship, worth $11,700.

“Winning this scholarship has opened a lot of doors for me. Not only will it allow me to save for future studies, meaning I will be able to enrol in an MBA sooner than I anticipated, it’s also given me the confidence in myself and my goals.”

A number of scholarships are available in the Access and Equity category, as well as Arts Industries, Business, Health, Engineering, Hospitality and Information Technology. More information on the range of scholarships and eligibility requirements can be found at Scholarships and Awards.
