Murder at Mallow House

Three men and one woman go up Dorrit
Street and fall through a faded green
door    The old codger's room is a sad

place to be but she sits on his knee and
whispers sweet naught while the White
Port and Players kick in   It's the one

sport in Melbourne on a Monday night
and she's tarting Pop up while the boys
play their part    and she's kissing and

cussing his belly's too tight and a fist
in a hand says let's do the old man and
they try but he fights and the wireless

goes up as they tie him and cut him
and burn him and laugh and tear his bed
room apart    Two men and one woman

assault an old bloke    I tell them to
stop but we can't and we don't till his
last gasp has broken the warm summer

night and it's done    Two men and a
woman fall out a door and walk without
talking towards the Grattan Street lights
