Target Audience

Anyone with a common interest or are decorating their homes, or wishing to do further study full time in the Diploma of Arts (Interior Decorating & Design).

Course Content

Studio based demonstration, colour exercises, fabric samples & visual examples etc.

The course consists of –

• Basic principles of design
• Colour theory and how to use the colour wheel
• Define styles in interior decoration
• Floor planning
• Lighting
• Materials and finishes
• Soft furnishings

You are given a brief and a floor plan to decorate a room completing a story/colour board at the end of the course. Each week you are given lectures on the above topics taking notes with discussions. Some additional exercises including two weeks of mixing colours and painting is required in the colour class, a simple lighting plan etc.

Upon completion of this course you will have gained knowledge into the above subjects and, together with the client brief and a finished colour board, will have the opportunity to express your creativity and experience the world of interior decorating.

Materials

A material kit will be provided to all students during the first lesson by the the teacher - (material kit is covered by enrolment fees).

Refund Policy (short courses)

Course Withdrawal & Refunds: Fee refunds will only be issued if a course withdrawal request is received at least five (5) working days prior to the date of course commencement. A 25% administration fee will be charged. No refunds will be issued for withdrawal requests received after this time.

Course Transfers: Students wishing to transfer to a future start date of the same course will be accepted if a request is received at least five (5) working days prior to the date of course commencement, and providing a suitable future course offering is available. For all transfer requests, a $30 transfer fee will apply.

Course Cancellation by the Institute: Where a course is cancelled due to unforseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued.

Processing of refunds takes a minimum of twelve (12) working days. All refunds will be made directly to the payee, and will be mailed to the payee’s address as shown on the application form.
