RDA (Resource Description and Access) is the new cataloguing standard replacing AACR2 in 2013. The National Library of Australia is implementing RDA in the second quarter of 2013.
Underpinning RDA is the concept of FRBR (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records). This workshop is designed to provide all library and information workers with an understanding of FRBR as a concept and how it impacts resource discovery. FRBR and its relationship to RDA as a cataloguing standard will be covered. The session will include some practical activities to assist understanding of the concepts between RDA and FRBR.
At the end of this session you will have a sound understanding of FRBR, and be aware of the impact FRBR is having on information discovery, and what this implies for the future of cataloguing standards.
