What does this course involve?

This VCAL program will give you an introduction to aspects of IT and interactive digital media.

You will develop skills in graphic design (using Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash), video production software and sound recording and editing.

You will also study web design and editing (Dreamweaver and FrontPage), web design programming and maintenance.

This program includes units from Certificates II and III in Information Technology and Interactive Media.

You will also study broader work-related skills as well as VCE English, VCE mathematics and personal development. A large amount of the training is practical and you will work on a number of multimedia and IT-related projects through community service or industry placements.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may lead to employment as a trainee interactive media industry.

Roles may include Interactive Media, Web Design, Programmer or a large range of other IT and media roles.

What further study options will I have?

At the end of this course you may chose to continue studying at a Senior VCAL level, continue studying VCE subjects or apply for entry into a Certificate III (or higher) course such as Certificate III in Information Technology.

You must be 16 years old and have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent.

How do I apply?

Direct entry - Beginning of year.

Selection is a three stage process.

Stage 1: Attend a VCAL Information Session at (bookings not required):
  • Open Day Sunday 28th August or
  • Wednesday 12th October at 6:00pm (Elgar Auditorium) or
  • Wednesday 16th November at 6:00pm (Elgar Auditorium)

Stage 2: Complete and submit an application form (handed out during the Information Session).

Stage 3: Attend an interview.

  1. Tuition Fee - $1.62 per hour (max $875.00)
  2. Concession Tuition Fee - $105.00
  3. Service and Amenities Fee - $65.00 or 90.00

Fee for Service - this course will cost $12,000.00 if you aren't eligible for government subsidised training.
