What does this course involve?

If you have little or no furnishing experience or training, then this course is for you. You may study this course as a traineeship whilst attending secondary school.

You will learn how to develop hand and power tool skills to help you construct basic furniture products. You will gain the basic skills required for the furnishing industry, and you will study the Occupational Health and Safety requirements. You will participate in practical exercises, using hand tools to complete exercises. You will learn how to maintain edge tools and complete basic solid timber and manufactured board projects along with develop hand and power tool skills to help you construct basic furniture products.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course could give you an entry level opportunity into the furnishing industry with progression into an apprenticeship. Entry level roles may include production operator, assistant cabinet maker, trainee furniture assembly operator.

Advanced Standing is approved recognition of prior learning that is displayed as an Exemption (EX) on the student’s academic record. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work.
