What does this course involve?

This Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification for VET teachers that meets the requirements of the Victorian TAFE MBA.

You will obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to:
  • teach and assess effectively across a range of VET related contexts
  • facilitate new insights and problem solving when working with learners
  • manage the learning process to facilitate change and action in learners
  • undertake effective self-assessment in the role as teacher/trainer in a VET Environment
  • research teaching methodologies and relevant theoretical knowledge to build teaching capabilities.

Easily gain an extra qualification by undertaking just one additional unit and receiving the Diploma of Training and Assessment as well as the Diploma of VET Practice.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This Diploma is of particular relevance to VET and TAFE sector training management roles. Being a trainer and training manager is an exciting and meaningful career and is essential if you wish to become a teacher at an Australian TAFE. This Diploma will also take you to the next level in your training career and will enhance and build on your existing training knowledge, helping to make you an expertly skilled trainer, and/or training manager and assessor in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) environment.

Can I apply?

You must have:
  • successfully completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104) or its equivalent
  • VET training and/or assessment experience
  • the ability to access the workplace environment to apply skills/knowledge and complete assessment and workplace requirements at an advanced level
  • access to a training/teaching environment in order to undertake the practicum requirement of this program.

  2. Service and Amenities Fee - $65.00 or 90.00

Fee For Service Fees

Fee for Service - this course will cost $3,000.00 if you aren't eligible for government subsidised training.

Will my previous experience or study count?

Advanced Standing is approved recognition of prior learning that is displayed as an Exemption (EX) on the student’s academic record. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.

What will I study?

The teaching practicum unit (200 hours) provides opportunities for development and review of facilitation and delivery skills and other professional skills required by a teacher in the VET sector. It consists of four segments.

This unit specifies the competency required to undertake a training needs analysis (TNA) to identify the training and assessment needs of an organisation.
