What does this course involve?

Do you provide technical support under a pharmacist’s supervision in a hospital setting? Or do you supervise pharmacy technicians? Then this online course is for you.

Learn how to conduct small-scale compounding of general and aseptic pharmaceuticals, prepare batch, work sheets and labels and assist in dispensing administration.
Learn how to support pharmacists by collecting and providing the right information.

Develop your knowledge of advanced medical terms, learn how to implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements, and comply with infection control policies and procedures.

You can choose to study the core unit, Conduct small-scale compounding of aseptic pharmaceutical products, in your workplace or at Box Hill Institute. Please note: this course is not designed for retail pharmacy workers.

Online applicants must:

  • have a minimum of 2 years working in a Hospital Pharmacy department
  • be employed in the industry
  • possess basic computer skills
  • have completed the Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (preferred)
  • have successfully completed the following (or equivalent):
    • HLTHIR301B Communicate and work effectively in health
    • HLTPH301C Undertake pharmacy technician duties
    • HLTPH304C Maintain pharmaceutical ward or imprest stock
    • HLTPH312B Procure, store and maintain pharmaceutical products
    • HLTPH313B Distribute pharmaceutical products B Assist with basic dispensing of prescriptions
    • HLTPH306C Package pharmaceutical products

  1. Tuition Fee - $2.17 per hour *
  2. Concession Tuition Fee - $187.50
  3. Service and Amenities Fee - $65.00 or 90.00

Fee for Service - this course will cost $1,751.00 if you aren't eligible for government subsidised training.

Advanced Standing is approved recognition of prior learning that is displayed as an Exemption (EX) on the student’s academic record.
