What does this course involve?

This course is designed for those who assist pharmacists in hospitals and community health settings.

This face-to-face course is designed for those wishing to work with pharmacists in hospitals and community health settings.

You will learn how to use basic medical terminology, undertake pharmacy technician duties and procure, maintain and package pharmaceutical products. You will learn how to distribute pharmaceutical products and dispense prescriptions.

You will also gain valuable skills in working with culturally diverse clients and co-workers, provide training to others, and learn how to organise your work priorities.

Please note: this course is not designed for retail pharmacy assistants.

This course may provide you with employment opportunities as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or community health organisation.

You may be eligible to progress into the Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support.

Can I apply?

All applicants must have the literacy and numeracy skills required (you will be required to sit a test) along with basic computer skills. Full time applicants must also have a mature disposition and a genuine interest in hospital pharmacy work.

How do I apply?

Direct entry - download and complete a Box Hill Institute Application Form to apply for study in 2012.

Applicants must also attend an information session on Thursday 27 October 2011 at 7pm in Building 3, Level 3 - Room E3.318, 465 Elgar Road, Box Hill.

Applicants must also sit a VETASSESS literacy and numeracy test to be held on Thursday 10 November 2011 at 5.30 - 8.30pm in Building 3, Level 3 - Room E3.318, 465 Elgar Road, Box Hill.

  2. Concession Tuition Fee - $187.50

Fee for Service - this course will cost $1,462.00 if you aren't eligible for government subsidised training.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to organise own work schedules, to monitor and obtain feedback on work performance, and to maintain required levels of competence.
