What does this course involve?

Learn the basics of electrical theory and maths, and gain practical skills to help you find work in the electrical, security systems or refrigeration and air conditioning trades.

You will learn how to interpret electrical drawings, operate safely in an electrical workshop.

On successful completion you may be eligible to apply for entry into one of the Certificate III in Electrotechnology courses.

Can I apply?

  • You must have a strong desire to work as an apprentice within the electrical, refrigeration/airconditioning and data communications/security systems industries
  • Year 11 literacy and numeracy level is preferred
  • You may also be required to undertake a pre-selection aptitude literacy and numeracy test.

This unit covers routine products required to do work in the Electrotechnology environment are produced in accordance with the schedule of work ensuring work is completed in an agreed time, to a quality standard and with a minimum waste.

The Victorian state government recently announced a series of government funding and fee policy changes for TAFEs. As a result, the advertised tuition fee rates are subject to change, for students commencing their course from 1 July 2012. The student tuition fee is indicative only and subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as student services and amenities fees. This qualification may have prerequisites, co-requisite or bridging units from lower or higher level qualifications. An offer of a place is always subject to places being available.
