Gain skills in a variety of picture framing construction techniques with this hands-on, specialised course. You will learn how to mount and assemble basic and complex artwork, cut mat boards and repair framing materials. You will also learn how to remove frames from artwork, prepare textiles for framing and decorate mat boards. Plus you will also gain an understanding of safety in the workplace, the safe and correct use of hand tools and working effectively with others.

This course may provide you with further employment opportunities as a picture framer.

You may wish to study short courses to hone your skills or enrol in a business course if you wish to open your own business.

You must:

• have successfully completed Year 10 including reading comprehension skills and mathematics
• have previously registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre
• have a training contract with an employer.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.
