What does this course involve?

This course will give you the necessary skills and knowledge for working with children and youth involved in child protection, youth justice and supported accommodation systems.

You will develop skills in providing care, protection and support services to young people.

You will develop case-planning and communication skills, and learn to facilitate cooperative behaviour.

You will also receive an introduction to mental health work and the alcohol and drugs sector, as well as learn advanced first aid skills.

Entrance requirements

Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass. Relevant employment experience in industry will be considered. You will be required to participate in a 5 week practical placement. This placement is full time and unpaid.

English Language Proficiency

A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic). A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

Special admission requirements

You must have a current Working with Children Check and a current National Police Record Check (both in Australia and in your home country).
You will be required to attend an interview or provide additional information in a placement test for assessment. Contact the International Student Services for further information.

Cost

$AUD10,500 per year, plus amenities and materials fees.
