What does this course involve?

This course provides you with the ability to work as a Level III childcare worker in variety of early childhood settings and out-of-school hour's programs. Learn how to care and interact effectively with children, provide food and respond to illnesses and accidents. You will learn how to foster and support the emotional well being of infants and oversee their physical, social and psychological development. You will also learn how to provide administration support in a child care facility, and provide a safe and healthy working environment.

Entrance requirements

Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass, however relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.

English language proficiency

A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).
A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

Special admission requirements

You must have a current Working with Children check and a current National Police Record check (both in Australian and your home country).

Applicants should be physically fit, enjoy being children, have patience, understanding, energy adaptability, and willingness to take responsibility.

Students who accept an offer of a place must provide evidence of having commenced an immunisation course against Hepatitis B and fully immunised against Rubella and Tetanus. An immunisation course against Hepatitis A is also advisable.

Cost

$AUD5,650, per 6 months, plus amenities and materials fees.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may provide you with employment opportunities in; long day care, occasional care, out of school hour's care, family day care and sessional services, leisure centres, pre-school or kindergartens, neighbourhood houses, Australian migrant education program services and mobile services and other specialised services.

What further study options will I have?

You may be eligible to progress into the Diploma of Children’s Services (Early childhood education and care).
