What does this course involve?

If you’re a diploma-qualified library technician, this course will give you specialist skills in a range of areas.
You will learn how to establish effective workplace relationships, plan and develop information management systems, activities and events.
You can choose to enhance your technical skills in updating and creating web pages, incorporating digital photography in multimedia presentations, undertaking marketing activities, budget management and advanced cataloguing.
This course will also develop your leadership skills, help you to manage meetings and recruit and select staff.

Entrance requirements

Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass, however relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.

English language proficiency

A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).

A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may provide you with employment as a senior library technician in school, university, institute, public, special, state and national libraries.
You may also find employment in information agencies, booksellers, library supply agencies and with library software suppliers.
You will also be eligible to apply for membership with the Australian Library and Information Association as a library technician.

What further study options will I have?

You will receive advanced status within courses of professional librarianship and can gain at least twelve months of exemptions in relevant courses. Individual generic units are also recognised in other courses of study, allowing for movement into a wide range of career paths.
