What does this course involve?

This course is designed to prepare you for a career as an architectural building designer or draftsperson.

You will learn about architectural design and the construction of residential and commercial buildings. Applying the principles of environmental sustainability to projects will be an important part of your studies.

By drawing using manual and computer aided drafting you will learn to communicate design ideas and technical construction information in 2D and 3D.

You’ll gain valuable skills from the design stage through to selection of materials, presentation of the design and management of the project.

Entrance requirements

Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass, however relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.

English language proficiency

A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).
A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

AUD$11,300 per year, plus amenities and materials fees.

What employment opportunities will I have?

Career opportunities for graduates include working as an architectural technician/draftsperson for architects, building contractors, and building designers or in the building management department of commercial enterprises or government departments. With experience, graduates may work as a building designer in their own right.

You may be eligible for entry into related advanced courses at institutes or universities.
