If you love animals and are concerned about animal welfare, or maybe you are thinking about changing your career where you can work with animals on a daily basis. We offer a variety of courses which are Nationally-accredited, so they’ll be recognised wherever your work may take you in the future. Training facilities include a real-life veterinary clinic and dog grooming service, an equestrian centre and an animal house with laboratory animals, reptiles and amphibians. All of these resources enable you to learn in a real-world environment, developing hands-on, practical skills.

If you would like to play a part in the science of the future, the rapidly evolving world of biotechnology offers a wide variety of rewarding careers.  Box Hill Institute is a leader and innovator in biotechnology.  We are one of the first TAFE institutes in Australia to offer a degree in this field and have been designated the Specialist Centre for Biotechnology Training (BioSkills) by the Victorian State Government.

Jessica Ellis

Certificate II in Equine Industry

Owning horses has never been enough for Jessica, she needed to know more, and so gaining an education in the equine industry was essential for her.

Jessica enrolled in a VET in Schools course at Box Hill Institute, where she found the study environment more mature and well structured giving her less pressure than in secondary school. Jessica found the teachers at Box Hill Institute very supportive, helpful and fun.  Through assignments and practical experience in the course, Jessica developed her skills and knowledge.  One of the best things about the course for Jessica was being able to use her own horse in the practical components.

Jessica also devotes her spare time to horses.  Jessica said, “I enjoy eventing and showjumping and I also volunteer with the charity Animal Aid.
