Youth Courses
Pathways Program for students in Years 9 - 11
Want to get more out of your secondary education? The pathways program gives students the opportunity to experience vocational study at Box Hill Institute. As a Pathways student, you will attend Box Hill Institute one afternoon per week outside of school hours or one day per week (limit programs only) for one semester in your chosen vocational stream. Pathways courses will help you to bridge the gap between school and tertiary education, and explore your career options. You can also earn credit towards further study in the same field at Box Hill Institute.

Victorian Certificate of Learning (VCAL)
VCAL provides a practical option for students in Years 11 and 12. It gives you work related experience, literacy and numeracy skills and the opportunity to develop personal skills important for life and work. Like the VCE, the VCAL is an accredited secondary certificate that is recognised internationally and provides pathways to further study and work. You will attend an orientation camp as part of the program.

Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS)
VETiS is a vocationally-oriented program for Year 11 and 12 students who are completing the VCE or VCAL. VETiS programs are designed to prepare you for the workplace, offering industry-specific training with a nationally recongised outcome. With a VETiS program you will come top TAFE one day a week over your two year VCE period and obtain ( in most cases) a certificate two qualification. This qualification will assist you in applying for further study, working in an industry or getting into an apprenticeship depending on the area in which you choose to study. This can also help you to gain a dual qualification – your VCE and a TAFE course (or credit towards one).
