Live Production and Theatre (Theatre Technician)

The live theatre and performance industry is extremely energetic and exciting.

Being part of a show performed in front of a live audience gives as much of a buzz to those involved backstage as it does for those onstage and in the crowd.

And it’s the people behind the scenes that really make it happen. Box Hill Institute’s live production, theatre and events course will give you the technical knowledge and practical skills you need to prepare your career for the stage. You will learn lighting, sound and stage management techniques, and your studies will benefit from practical application and experience. The course is as practical as it is technical. Training includes experience working with our in-house lighting and sound hire company, and a significant work placement component.

As a graduate, you will have a wide range of career opportunities in various event fields to choose from, including theatre, musicals, dance, exhibitions, concerts, opera and product launches. Qualified technicians in the field can travel far and wide with their work. Your Box Hill Institute qualifications will be recognised nationally. You may also be eligible to apply for further studies at institutions such as VCA, NIDA and WAAPA.
