Term Definition
ACA CPR Pathways The training programs that lead to ACA CPR Registration.
ACA CPR Registration Registration allows the holder to work on communications installations which connect to the public national telecommunications network.
Cabler Registrars There are five organisations which can register individuals for ACA CPR Registration. These are listed on the website.
Competency - based Qualification Pathways Training programs based on the competency units that are found in nationally endorsed training packages.
Credit transfer A training course result from one RTO is recognised by another RTO for credit towards a qualification.
EE-OZ Training Standards The national body responsible for Electrotechnology training (including cabling) in Australia.
Short-term Experienced Cablers Cablers who have accumulated 600 hours or more of cabling experience over the last two year. Other conditions apply – see elsewhere in this website.
Novices Individuals who have less cabling experience that a ‘short-term experienced cabler’.
Open Registration ACA CPR registration which allows work on any communications installation. See CPR Rules elsewhere on this website.
Registered Training Organisations - RTOs An organisation which is recognised by its state or territory training authority as a provider of nationally endorsed training programs.
Restricted Registration ACA CPR registration which allows work on communications installation which lead away from the network boundary. See CPR Rules elsewhere on this website.
RPL/RCC Recognition of Prior Learning or Recognition of Current Competency (either term is acceptable) is a process RTOs use to give a person credit for learning results they completed before enrolling in a course. The learning can be another course or learning on-the-job.
Self test A person undertakes a test without supervision to measure understanding of course content. Results of self-tests are not used to make final assessments in this website.
Long-term Experienced cablers Cablers who have extensive experience in cabling, prior employment with an organisation working in communications or telecommunications, and records of training relevant to the ACA CPR Pathways. Other conditions apply – see elsewhere in this website.
