What are policies and procedures?
Policies are relatively short statements explaining Box Hill Institute’s position on important issues. Procedures detail the step-by-step processes associated with the implementation of these policies.
How do policies and procedures affect students?
Policies and procedures not only outline the rights and responsibilities of students but also Box Hill Institute’s responsibilities to students. Policies and procedures affecting students range from student selection to student assessment.
Student Code of Conduct
The Box Hill Institute Code of Conduct applies to all students and aims to ensure the safety, comfort and wellbeing of everyone at the Institute. All students at the Institute must follow the following points:
- respect yourself and others - physical or verbal assault will not be tolerated.
- behave appropriately - ensure your actions and words support learning and teaching
- mobile phones must be turned off in class
- adhere to Occupational Health and Safety requirements
- respect the property of the Box Hill Institute
- produce your student identification when requested by Box Hill Institute staff
- do not smoke in the non smoking areas
The Box Hill Institute community:
- does not allow illegal drugs or anyone under their influence on the premises
- does not allow alcohol on the premises without prior permission from the CEO
- requires people who take medication to be aware of medicinal side effects and not combine it with anything that can place themselves or others at risk.
Breaches of the Box Hill Institute Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action according to Box Hill Institute policies and procedures. Illegal activities will be referred to the police. For clarification or further information view the Conduct Management policies and procedures.
