Box Hill Institute graduate and businesswoman Denise Murnane has won Maroondah Journal’s Women in Business Award.
The award was part of Maroondah City Council’s 2005 Maroondah Business Week Awards.
The awards recognise business excellence within Maroondah with community members nominating 26 local firms.
The Certificate IV in Business (Small Business Management) graduate was also a finalist in the 2005 Outstanding Student of the Year Awards – Vocational category.
"I previously studied at university but found the Certificate IV in Business was a more practical course for me," Denise said.
"It provided me with skills I could immediately apply to my business. I loved it so much and all the teachers supported me 110 per cent."
Denise said the course helped her focus and become more organised.
"The knowledge I gained from the course and the people I met during the course allowed me to get a more balanced perspective on running a business," she said.
Denise’s intends to make RedRaw Designs a starting point for talented people with to enter the design industry.
"I want it to be a design studio where there is a hub of creative people that really want to be there," she said.
