Student Testimonial – Robyn Cooper

"The VET course gave me a solid grounding and a head start for the Youth Work Course I’m currently doing."

Box Hill Institute graduate, Robyn Cooper, won a Premiers Award for her excellent VCE results in Health and Community Services (Community Work) for 2003.

Robyn came to Box Hill Institute to complete her Certificate III in Health and Community Services (Community Work) as part of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) course offered by Box Hill Senior Secondary College.

“At Box Hill Senior, I was able to choose what subjects I wanted to do. I had an interest in heath education and an interest in community work,” she said.

“VET was better preparation for university than what I may have otherwise received,” she said.

“The VET course gave me a solid grounding and a head start for the Youth Work Course I’m currently doing. Even today I still refer back to some of my notes”.

“The support from my tutor at the Institute was also great...she was willing to go that extra mile, that really helped,” she said.

Robyn had never expected that the VET program would see her win such a prestigious award as the Premiers Award. “It still feels a bit weird, I don’t feel like I should’ve got it,” she said.
