“Nadine is a very inspiring teacher and I’ve learnt so much from her classes."
For Box Hill Institute Professional Writing and Editing student, Julia Blunden, life has come full ‘cycle’ literally. There is no bigger buzz for a writer than to have your name published in your favourite publication.
For Julia this ambition was realised when she had an article published in her favourite paper, The Age.
“I’ve always had this desire to be published in The Age...as I’m an avid reader of the paper myself,” she said.
It was in Julia’s Non-Fiction class where this desire came to fruition through advice from teacher, Nadine Cresswell-Myatt. “Nadine is a very inspiring teacher and I’ve learnt so much from her classes,” Julia commented. “She is very practical in her approach...she’s given me lots of useful advice.”
This advice helped Julia market one of her pieces, which was picked up by The Age almost immediately, however it took quite a while for publication.
Julia’s piece was an informative article about cycling and was actually a spin-off from her cycling guide “Bike Rides Around Melbourne”.
