“The biggest holes a small business can fall into are the financials, lack of support and lack of business knowledge. NEIS plugs all of those holes”
There’s no drought of success for waterless carwash owner Jonathon Sciola.
After completing the NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme) program in April 2004, Jonathon’s business is washing out its competitors.
He recently won the JCI Whitehorse Maroondah Young Achiever Award at the Whitehorse Business Group’s Annual Excellence in Business Awards.
As the founding operator of mobile car care business Jonno’s Carwash, Jonathon said the NEIS program gave him the ability to become his own boss.
“I had the mindset of an entrepreneur and mechanic but not the mindset of a manager,” he said.
“NEIS got me up and running. It took me from having an idea to operating a fully-fledged business.”
Jonathon said the program provided him with ongoing support from a mentor and a business network.
“The biggest holes a small business can fall into are the financials, lack of support and lack of business knowledge. NEIS plugs all of those holes,” he said.
Jonathon said he started the program to help expand his new carwash business.
“I was working part-time for another carwash business and wanted to branch out on my own. I only had a few customers before the program.”
Jonathon said he wanted his carwash to stand out from its competitors.
“At first I was using a chemical-free approach by using Enjo cloth products,” he said.
“As a mobile carwash, you can’t just wash chemicals down the drain. By being chemical-free I was staying ahead of the competition,” he said.
