Student Stories – Introduction

All Box Hill Institute students are encouraged to achieve their goals.

From the minute they walk into the Institute to the time they leave they are part of an organisation which encourages each student to lead, aspire and excel – regardless of their field of study.

Box Hill Institute has been providing education and training opportunities to people living in Box Hill and the Eastern region for over 80 years. As an Institute our core goal is to provide an environment which encourages excellence and develops the leaders of tomorrow.

Among the famous graduates of the Institute we are proud to cite:

  • Tobie Puttock – working with world-renowned chef Jamie Oliver on the Melbourne version of the restaurant Fifteen
  • George Droutsas – Whitehorse councillor and the council's youngest ever mayor
  • Shane Wakker – drummer for rock group Bodyjar
  • Curtis Stone – co-host of the ABC's 'Surfing the Menu' and host of Channel 7's 'My Restaurant Rules'
  • Guy Grossi – Grossi Florentino Restaurant in Melbourne
  • Chris Cheney – The Living End
  • Corrine Dixon – proprietor of Eucalypt Ridge Resort

Each year many students let us into their lives briefly to tell us their stories. These are their stories – how they dreamed, how they believed, but most of all how they succeeded.

Dream, Believe, Achieve
