“A lot of people recommended the Institute because of its high level of teaching."
Leaving your home country Malta, as a well-known and successful musician to live and study in a foreign country would be a daunting experience for anyone.
Box Hill Institute student, Fabrizio Giorgio was no exception. However, when he discovered himself as a finalist in the 2004 Box Hill Institute Outstanding Student of the Year Awards, those initial reservations may have disappeared.
Currently completing an Advanced Diploma in Music Performance, Fabrizio believes he couldn’t have done it without the close support of his teachers.
“The teachers would help with my homesickness and all the ups and downs that come with a musical life...they were more friends than tutors,” he said.
“It was one of the first things that really stood out to me about Box Hill Institute.”
Music was a passion passed on to Fabrizio through his father. “My dad is a singer and also a real family man, so I’ve always been very influenced by him...idolising him when I was young,” he said.
“But the real reason I love music is because I can’t imagine doing anything else in life...I feel it’s my calling.”
Before coming to Australia, Fabrizio researched different educational institutions in England, America and Australia as he had relatives in each country. After some research and chatting on the Internet, it was soon revealed that Box Hill Institute was a great place to learn.
“A lot of people recommended the Institute because of its high level of teaching,” he said.
“My time at the Institute has been really inspirational as I’m surrounded by great teachers and musicians.”
