Student Testimonial – Andrew Panago

“The teachers are great. Very friendly and supportive—they’re there when you need them.”

Engineering student Andrew Panago cleaned up with his recent scholarship win.

On 14 September, the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology student received a Wayne Cleaning Systems scholarship worth $1,750.

Andrew said the money would pay for his fees next year and allow him to save for other things.

“It’s good that Wayne Cleaning Systems give something like this. It helps the young people and the industry,” he said.

“I can definitely say that I’m not disappointed.”

Andrew said Centre for Automotive, Transport and Engineering coordinator David White suggested he apply for the scholarship.

“I didn’t know much about the scholarship but I applied anyway. I didn’t think much about it or what it was. I never win anything really, so it was a surprise,” he said.

Andrew said aside from the monetary value, the scholarship would be an asset to his resumé.

He said he decided to study at Box Hill Institute after completing a course in digital animation at entertainment technology training provider JMC Academy.

“I’ve always liked drawing and animation but there aren’t many jobs in digital animation in Australia,” he said.

“I decided to study engineering because there are more employment options,” he said.

Andrew said he enjoyed studying at the Institute.

“The teachers are great. Very friendly and supportive—they’re there when you need them,” he said.

Andrew said he hoped to work in the engineering industry.

“I’m not sure what aspect I will work in yet. There are so many options, so I’ll get a better feel for what I like as I go along,” he said.
