Student Testimonial – Adam Panipucci

"Everyday is pretty good at Box Hill Institute, everyone gets along really well so its not just great for learning but for socialising too."

Adam Panipucci has been so busy combining his apprenticeship with his study commitments that when he won the Apprenticeships Plus Outstanding Apprentice for 2002/2003 in Engineering, he didn’t even know what it was for.

“It’s pretty good and it’s going to look pretty impressive on my resume,” said the rather modest Adam. “Let’s just say that I don’t think Apprenticeships Plus would have got too many complaints about me.”

Currently Adam prefers to focus on life at the Institute. “Everyday is pretty good at Box Hill Institute, everyone gets along really well so its not just great for learning but for socialising too,” he said.

Adam is currently completing his engineering apprenticeship with Glass Furnace in Dandenong and is now finishing his third year. He believes had it not been for his time at Box Hill Institute his skills may not be as diverse as they are. “It’s been fantastic, I’ve learnt a lot of things that have been that much more technical,” he said.

“There’s been so much more variety at the Institute than there would be if I was just working.”

“The staff have all be pretty helpful...they’re more accessible and friendly and they don’t place any huge expectations on us, we’re all given a good chance.”

Unlike many students who find it difficult to return to study, Adam believes he was ready for the challenge. “I think that as you get older you come to the point where you are here because you want to learn, not because you have to be here,” he said.
