Growth and Pathways (GAP)

Do you want to study something a little more practical? Would you like to try a TAFE subject to see if you like it? Do you like to take responsibility for your own learning? Would you like to be treated as an adult?

Box Hill Institute invites you to try one of our special courses while you are still at school. We want to help you make correct career decisions, but more importantly, want to encourage you stay at school as long as possible.

GAP is a TAFE taster program for students studying Years 9 or 10 and aged 15 years or older at the time of starting the course. The program has been designed to assist students seeking to explore career options and pathways and also gives students the opportunity to experience the TAFE environment and acquire a sense of tertiary education. GAP is not designed as an equivalent of an industry component of VCAL.

You will receive a Certificate of Attendance when you finish the GAP Program and in some courses you have the opportunity to complete units that you can take with you as credit for further study.

You come to Box Hill Institute for one day every week for one semester.

GAP courses are fee-paying courses so your parents have to agree to pay the costs up front and must agree to you going to Box Hill Institute. You must also have the permission of your school to do one of these programs.

Contact your careers teacher or year-level coordinator for more details.
