| Being a student can be stressful in itself. When another pressure, such as homelessness or a financial crisis, occurs, stress levels can escalate and both studies and general wellbeing can suffer greatly. The welfare officer is available to assist students to source the services and information they need to manage. These may include: - information on and assistance with Centrelink benefits (for example, eligibility for payments, application forms and entitlement figures)
- accommodation resources
- fee deferment (if eligible)
- referral to other services (within the Centre for Student Support Services, or within theInstitute and to community-based services, such as family support and youth housing support)
- assistance with budgeting through planning and prioritising resources
- assistance in orientation around Melbourne, Box Hill and the Institute (for rural students considering attending the Institute)
- general advice and information.
