Why do we collect your information?The information collected on any Box Hill Institute enrolment form is collected for the primary purpose of providing enrolment into the requested course of study. Other purposes of collection related to enrolment include: - To correspond with you
- For administrative purposes
- For the purposes of undertaking Institute commissioned research
- For the facilitation of student elections
- To meet legal obligations
- To inform you about your course or other Institute courses, events and services
- In case of an emergency
- To confirm your entitlement to commonwealth assistance
- To verify your FEE-HELP balance
- To facilitate or verify the allocation of a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN)
- To invite you to participate in the Institute's Alumni upon completion of your course
To whom do we disclose the information we collect?The information collected at enrolment may be disclosed to the following types of organisations: - Government departments such as the Australian Taxation Office, the Department of Education, Science and Training, the Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, and the Department of Education and Training - Victoria, the Office of Tertiary Education and Training, and Centrelink.
- External organisations such as professional bodies, hospitals or government agencies, if the disclosure is necessary due to an emergency, as authorised in accordance with the Institute's policy and procedure covering the confidentiality of student records.
- External organisations contracted for the purposes of undertaking Institute commissioned research for the benefit of the Institute and the student body.
- Contracted service providers which the Institute uses to perform services on its behalf such as banks, mailing houses, and logistics service providers.
- To an employer or organisation sponsoring a student's study.
- To the parent or authorised representative of a student who is a minor (under 18 years of age).
What happens if this information is not provided?It is not possible for your enrolment to proceed if you choose not to complete all the questions on the enrolment form. Accessing your personal informationYou have a right to access personal information that Box Hill Institute holds about you, subject to any exceptions in relevant legislation. Privacy PolicyBox Hill Institute has a Privacy Policy that can be found on its Student Policies and Procedures Database, which outlines the ways in which we intend to meet our privacy commitments and details the procedures for making complaints under the Act. Statement on Institute PhotographyThe Institute may on occasion take and publish photographs of students involved in Institute activities on and off campus for educational and promotional purposes, and may publish photographs in hard copy or via electronic media or on the Institute's website. Such photos may be viewed by the general public. If you object to your photograph being taken or wish to restrict its use, please notify the photographer at the event. |
