Scholarship to help single-mum continue studies
City of Whitehorse Councillor Robert Chong presented a $4,500 study scholarship to Box Hill Institute student Rika Eyre at the Box Hill Town Hall Art Space on 25 August.
The scholarship is awarded to a Whitehorse resident studying at Box Hill Institute who is experiencing personal or financial hardship and goes towards helping the student complete their studies. Recipient, Rika Eyre, is a single mother originally from Japan, currently studying for a Certificate III in Business (International Trade).
Box Hill Institute’s Angela Hoare-Lippman, General Manager, Health Sciences, Access and Students, said Rika had shown immense perseverance to her studies despite personal hardship.
“Box Hill Institute would like to thank the City of Whitehorse for providing our students exclusive access to this scholarship. We were happy to recommend Rika as a deserved winner as she has consistently worked hard and shown dedication and commitment to her studies. We look forward to seeing Rika graduate and gaining full-time employment in the career of her choice, which I’m sure this scholarship win will help her to achieve,” said Angela.
