Mark Gallagher, Certificate III in Engineering and Fabrication student, has been awarded the inaugural Arthur Ling Memorial Fabrication Scholarship.
The Arthur Ling Memorial Fabrication Scholarship is a $1000 Access & Equity scholarship awarded to a fabrication student experiencing personal or financial hardship.
For Mark and his partner, proud parents of new daughter the award has meant a bit of financial relief.
Its a bit tough on an apprenticeship wage. I try to do as much overtime as I can but things are pretty tight. I plan to use the money to do a night course in arc welding, so that I can become more qualified and better at it, said Mark.
Id really like to thank the Freemasons for giving me the opportunity and to Box Hill Institute and my employer King Co. Engineering. Their combined support has been terrific.
