Guangdong Food and Drug Vocational College (GFDV)

 

GFDV is northeast of Guangdong, about 30 minutes from the city centre and 40 minutes from the airport.  The college is in a university and college town.  The college was established in 1965 and put on the National Register in 2003.  Its main courses are pharmaceutical and majors are in food and cosmetics.  It also offers the biggest Traditional Chinese Medicine Facility (TCM) in South China.

 

Since 2004, the college has delivered Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas to full time (5,000) and part time (3,000) students.  Students graduate as licensed pharmacists and licensed (TCM) Apothecary.

 

The college has 30 modern laboratories for practical subjects, based on industry specifications.  It also has close industry ties, enabling students to complete work experience.  There are five computer centres and 28% of teachers have at least their Masters Degree.

 

GFDV became an extended campus in 2006.
 
The following Box Hill Institute qualifications are currently being offered:
 

  • Diploma of Business (Marketing)
  • Diploma of Laboratory Operations

 

There are currently more than 230 students enrolled in the above programs. More than 100 students graduated in the inaugural graduation ceremony in June 2009.
