The Application Process

A step-by-step guide to enrolling with Box Hill Institute.

Step One

Obtain and complete the 'Application Form' for International Students.

The form can be obtained:

  • from the above link
  • direct from the Institute (contact details)
  • from our accredited representatives in your country
  • from our accredited representatives in your country
  • from Box Hill Institute booth at selected education exhibitions.

You will need the following supporting documents:

  • Copy of passport and visa pages (if applicable) from the passport
  • Certified true copy of educational certificates and academic records
  • Attendance Letter (if applicable)
  • Evidence of employment history (if applicable)
  • English Language test results - IELTS or TOEFL (unless IELTS is required for visa purposes)
  • References from employers (if required)
  • Portfolio of artwork or audition tape/DVD (if applicable)

Note: if your documentation is in a language other than English, an official certified translation must be provided.

 

Step Two

Submit or mail the application form, together with:

  • required supporting documents
  • and application fee, which is non-refundable, of AUD$50 in the form of a bank draft (payable to Box Hill Institute) to:

OR:

  • take your application and supporting documents to your local Australian Education Centre
  • take your application and supporting documents to your local Box Hill Institute representative (Education Agent)
  • Fax your application together with supporting documents direct to Box Hill Institute at +61 3 9286 9334
  • E-mail your application together with supporting documents to Box Hill Institute at: international@bhtafe.edu.au

 

Step Three

  • If your application is successful, you will receive a 'Letter of Offer' for a place at Box Hill Institute.
  • The time taken to assess your application will depend on the prerequisites that you need to met. For example, applications for media, art, design and music often take longer than other programs.
  • If your application is unsuccessful you will receive a letter stating why you have not met the selection prerequisites or a letter informing you that all places in the course for which you have applied for have been filled.

 

Step Four

About your offer.

The International Student Services will send you:

  • a Letter of Offer
  • your Agreement with Box Hill Institute
  • a copy of Box Hill Institute's 'Refund Policy' and 'Transfer Policy'
  • The Letter of Offer will indicate if the offer is an 'Unconditional Offer' or 'Conditional Offer'

Unconditional Offers

You have been accepted into the program for which you have applied for. However, to secure your place you should accept this offer as soon as possible, particularly if you have applied for a course that is in high demand.

Conditional Offers

You have been offered a place in the program, if you meet the conditions as stated on your 'Letter of Offer'.  Evidence that you have met these conditions will be required, for example results of an IELTS test.

 

Step Five

Acceptance of offer:

  • you must meet all the conditions as stated on the 'Letter of Offer'
  • you must read the 'Refund Policy', 'Transfer Policy 'and the Student Agreement Form with Box Hill Institute which accompanied the Letter of Offer.
  • return the signed copy of the 'Student Agreement' with Box Hill Institute either by fax, mail or email.
  • (Note: fees will not be accepted until we have received the signed copy of the 'Student Agreement' with Box Hill Institute).
  • forward a copy of the 'details page' of your passport if you didn't do this in Step One.
  • pay the 'Tuition Fees' and the 'Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)', as stated in Letter of Offer, by bank cheque, credit card or telegraphic transfer.

 

Step Six

Your Enrolment Package and Student Visa

After your acceptance documents have been received,  Box Hill Institute will send you the following items:

  • Your Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) for application of your student visa.
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) brochure
  • Box Hill Institute Arrival Guide containing information on pre-departure and living in Australia
  • Information about Accommodation and airport reception arrangements.
  • Two (2) luggage tags.

Note: you will need to apply for your student visa through an Australian Diplomatic Mission or one of Box Hill Institute's representatives.

 

Step Seven

Accommodation and airport reception arrangements:

  • Box Hill Institute provides an airport reception service for new international students arriving in Melbourne. It covers transport from Melbourne International Airport, for you, to your nominated accommodation. (Any accompanying family or friends will be charged a fee.)
  • Box Hill Institute can assist with accommodation for international students.
  • Please submit the Accommodation and Airport Reception form at least five (5) working days prior to your arrival date.

 

Step Eight

Attend Orientation Day, attendance is compulsory. Orientation details will be forwarded to you in your 'Enrolment Package'.
