Project description:
over the past decade, through the WDA, Singapore has undertaken ‘root and branch’ reform of its vocational education and training system
this has involved the development of the WSQ (Workforce Skills Qualifications System) for many industry sectors. These WSQ frameworks include internationally benchmarked competency standards, innovative new qualifications and competency guides. Leading industry spokespeople and company managers must approve each WSQ to ensure they meet industry needs.
BHI’s role:
- Box Hill Institute has been contracted by the WDA to develop WSQ for the Process (chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceutical manufacturing, water recycling, engineering and maintenance services) and Community and Social Services Industries. Box Hill Institute also developed ‘Service Excellence’, the standards which apply to all service provision occupations in all Singapore industries
- Box Hill Institute deployed teams of educators, managers, and industry expert consultants to develop these WSQ framworks which are now implemented in large-scale initiatives by Singaporean public and private training providers.
