For instance over 30% of our existing franchisees began their career as a baker or sales assistant. Partnership overview – Centre of Excellence in Bakery TrainingIn 2000, Box Hill Institute and Bakers Delight formed a unique partnership to provide innovation and excellence in Bakery training. The Bakers Delight Centre of Excellence in Bakery Training at Box Hill Institute represents a significant investment in the professional development of Bakers Delight people, and in the training and education of new entrants to the industry. It is also the venue for product research and development, testing and benchmarking activities. The Centre of Excellence in Bakery Training has set a new trend in bakery training. Bakers Delight stakeholders being trained at this facility are not only trained to nationally-accredited standards but also in 'the Bakers Delight way'. Apprentice benefitsThe bakery apprenticeship is a nationally-accredited certificate program, the 'Certificate III Food Processing (Retail Baking – Bread)'. The course is designed to be completed by apprentices at their own pace in a way that fits their learning needs while also fitting in with the bakery operations. Franchisee benefitsBox Hill Institute's new bakery apprenticeship course is fully-flexible; the quality training is designed to meet the bakery's operational needs. Franchisees can release apprentices whenever it suits. If franchisees have time to train the apprentices, they can, if they don’t have time, then they can use the staff at Box Hill Institute's Centre of Excellence. Box Hill Institute's staff are qualified trainers and bakers; one staff member is an ex Bakers Delight Production Manager, so franchisees can be assured that all the training is relevant and up-to-date.
