NEIS
The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) is a program that assists unemployed people start their own business.
NEIS is funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
Box Hill Institute is part of GRAMETS (Greater Melbourne Employment and Training Services), a consortium that is the largest NEIS provider in Victoria.
What do I get?
Through NEIS you get:
- a fortnightly payment for the first 12 months of your business
- assistance in preparing a business plan
- training on how to manage your own business
- a business mentor to assist you in developing the business
- free membership of the Box Hill BEC Business Network.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for NEIS, you must:
- be registered as unemployed with Centrelink
- be receiving a Government benefit (for example, Newstart, Parenting Payment, Disability Support Pension)
- not be an undischarged bankrupt
- be 18 years or over
- be below pension age
- have an idea for a business that has not yet started on a full-time basis.
How do I apply?
The application process involves:
- attending an information session
- completing an application form.
