Although the presentation package for Divan has substantially changed, what has not changed is our commitment to showcasing the best Australian poetry on offer. This third issue of Divan contains over 80 poems, ranging from techno social commentary to lyrical treatments of love, absence and creativity. Forty-five of the featured poets come from all over Australia, and there is one expatriate. They are a diverse group, some well-known, including winners of major poetry awards in Australia and overseas, some who have recently established themselves as poets to watch, and some making their publication debut. All of them are part of one Australian poetic voice that is shouldering its way into the 21 st century with gusto and vision. We at Divan are honoured to be a part of this growing tradition.

As anybody who has ever been associated with a print or electronic publication knows, a venture such as Divan would never exist without an incredible amount of effort and a touch of luck. Our luck comes in the form of Box Hill Institute, which provides IT support and the opportunity for staff members to supervise the student members of the editorial and production teams. The effort comes in the form of an enthusiastic group of people that includes Robyn Jacobs, Tamie Kyriakou, Carolyne Lee, and Bryant Shaw; as you explore the website you will discover what enormous contributions they have made to the look and content of Divan.

Of course, this effort and luck would be wasted if it wasn't for the poets and their poems. Our thanks go to all those poets who offered up their work for consideration, whether they were selected or not, for it is only because there are such people who believe in the power and promise of poetry that we have a wealth of poems to read, ponder over, absorb and read again. In his book ABC of Reading, Ezra Pound stated that 'Literature is news that STAYS news', and we hope that the poems selected for Divan will exemplify that definition. Finally, we thank you, our readers, for your support of the journal and for helping us display the 'news' as only Australian poets can.
