What does this course involve?

This course is an applied, full time alternative for achieving an accredited Year 11 qualification. VCAL has an industry-based strand of learning which in this case includes a strong focus on the Hospitality and Tourism Industries. It also includes studies in work-related skills, and in literacy, numeracy and personal development.
You will undertake industry-based studies which incorporate units from the Certificate II in Hospitality Operations and the Certificate II in Tourism Operations.
In a hands on environment, these studies will develop your skills in food production, meal presentation, basic food hygiene, working in a socially and culturally diverse environment, working within a team, basic camp site planning and catering, tour guiding, customer service, communication, basic first aid and responsible service of alcohol.
To provide you with the practical experiences needed in the industry, you will participate in an overnight camp as well as a 3 day orientation camp.

What further study options will I have?
At the end of this course you may chose to continue studying at a Senior VCAL (hospitality) level, continue studying VCE subjects, gain full time employment or apply for entry into a Certificate III or higher course.
