What does this course involve?
This course will give you basic skills and knowledge for a broad range of multimedia-related tasks.
You’ll learn about visual design and communications principles and put them into practice to create a multimedia product.
You’ll also develop your skills in creating 2D digital animation and graphics, creating webpages and writing content for multimedia.
This course will also give you a basic understanding of these software programs:
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- HTML
- Flash
- Dreamweaver
- InDesign for Macs

Provides students with the skills and knowledge to use techniques, materials and equipment for the production of digital images.
ICPMM41CA – Incorporate text into multimedia presentations - (20 hours)
This unit introduces the skills and knowledge required to create, edit and manipulate text using suitable software and incorporate it into multimedia presentations. Elementary principles of typography and text management are incorporated.
CUFGEN01A – Develop and apply industry knowledge - (15 hours)
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to access, increase and update knowledge of the multimedia industry, including the role of different industry sectors, and the impacts of changing technology.
CUFSAF01A – Follow health, safety and security procedures - (15 hours)
This unit describes the skills and knowledge which everyone in the workplace must have in order to work safely. It covers a range of industry contexts involving a variety of different conditions and hazards.
CUFIMA03A – Create 2D digital animation - (35 hours)
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use digital animation techniques and industry standard software to create 2D animation for a range of media applications within the multimedia industries.

This unit describes the skills needed to create web page for use within the cultural industries.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to incorporate the principles of visual design and communication into the development of multimedia products for use within the multimedia industry.

This unit defines the competency required to use computer applications to their full capacity, employing all advanced features as required for productions within the multimedia industries.

This unit describes the skills required to develop a multimedia script within the cultural industries.
CUFADM02A – Address copyright - (20 hours)
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to protect creative work and performance from unauthorised use.
ICPMM11BA – Identify components of multimedia - (20 hours)
This unit describes the competency required to identify the components, scope, features and role of a multimedia production within the multimedia industries.
CUFWRT05A – Write content and/or copy - (50 hours)
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to write content and/or copy for use in such items as advertisements, station and other promotions, sponsorship announcements, community service announcements and any other form of industrial writing for any production within the multimedia industries.
CUFMEM14A – Create, manipulate and incorporate 2D graphics - (25 hours)
This unit is combined with others into Digital Studio. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to create, edit and incorporate 2D graphics into multimedia products for use within design industries.
