What does this course involve?

This qualification will give quarry managers the necessary skills to measure, quantify, develop and manage operations in a safe, highly-regulated and competitive environment.

You will learn how to develop teams and individuals, produce financial reports, monitor safe workplaces and implement various site plans.

Gain skills in facilitating change within the workplace, promoting the business and conduct safety and health investigations.

Develop skills in effective communication, managing major incidents and emergencies, conducting construction material operation sales and establish quarry operations.

Training is delivered on site and off-the-job, ensuring it is practical and relevant to industry. Self-paced training materials are available in print, online and electronic form.

What employment opportunities will I have?

Quarry managers with the diploma qualification are employed in medium to large, complex quarry operations of various material types. This course may provide you with employment opportunities as a manager within sales, concrete, asphalt or administration.

You may also seek employment opportunities in the national and international extractive industries sector.

You may be eligible to progress into the Advanced Diploma of Extractive Industries Management.

Can I apply?

  • You should have a satisfactory pass at Year 11 level in English, mathematics and science, or an approved equivalent
  • You must be employed in the quarrying, mining or allied industries
  • You must have your employer's endorsement and be supported through an onsite mentor program
