What does this course involve?

You will gain practical skills such as how to draw and interpret basic sketches, identify fibres and fabrics, develop patterns and use a sewing machine.

You will also learn to prepare and produce garments, calculate costs for fashion products and conduct quality assurance for patterns and garments.

You will learn how to design and produce customised, tailored and draped fashion garments.

You will design garment ranges and develop a professional design folio.

You will also have the opportunity to put your practical skills to use by competing for prestigious industry awards as and competitions.

This course is also available to international students.

What further study options will I have?

You may wish to progress into the Associate Degree in Fashion Technology.

Can I apply?

You must have successfully completed Certificate IV Applied Fashion Design and Technology (which equates to the first year of this course)

How do I apply?

  • To apply for a full time position in this course you must use the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) process. Details of the VTAC application process are at www.vtac.edu.au and in the VTAC Guide, which is available from leading newsagents and libraries from August. If the Institute still has vacancies after the VTAC places have been offered, you will be able to apply directly to the Institute.

This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.
