What does this course involve?

If you're interested in turning the art of floristry into a career, but don't want to spend three years doing an apprenticeship, this flexible course is for you.

The course covers all elements required to successfully work in the floristry industry. It provides you with the skills necessary to work as a florist, from the elements and principles of design and how they relate to flower and foliage arrangements, to the arranging of bouquets, wreaths and corsages.

You will gain management and retail skills such as how to minimise theft, and how to balance registers and terminals, together with the advanced, creative techniques of floristry stock preparation and display.
This course is also available to international students.

What employment opportunities will I have?

You will be eligible for employment in the field of floristry. Many students become specialists working in an area such as weddings, functions, or corporate work.

What further study options will I have?

After successful completion of this course you can move on to study Certificate IV in Floristry that specialise in Small Business.

Can I apply?

You must be 17 years or over (or mature age) and possess an aptitude for floristry, or have completed Certificate II in Floristry.

This course runs for 1,000 hours and as it is competency-based, it may be completed earlier than the nominal time.
Full time - 1 year

  1. Tuition Fee - $2.17 per hour (max $1,250.00)
  2. Concession Tuition Fee - $187.50
  3. Service and Amenities Fee - $65.00 or 90.00

Fee for Service - this course will cost $12,855.00 if you aren't eligible for government subsidised training.

Advanced Standing is approved recognition of prior learning that is displayed as an Exemption (EX) on the student’s academic record. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.
