Government-funded TAFE courses (Victorian residents)The following refund information applies to Victorian residents enrolled in a government-funded course in any mode of study, including on-campus, and off-campus/correspondence. Tuition, and service and amenity feesStudents must officially withdraw via submission of a Course Exit or Unit Withdrawal form. In 2008, students who officially withdraw in writing (via submission of a Course Exit or Unit Withdrawal form) within 4 weeks after the official commencement of the course (not units), will be eligible for a tuition and amenities fee refund less the $55.00 minimum payment. The $55.00 minimum payment will only be refunded where a student can supply evidence of an offer and enrolment at another TAFE institute or Higher Education Provider. Materials feesCourse teaching materials fees and retained course items fees may be refunded at the discretion of the relevant Teaching Centre at any time during the enrolled calendar year, up until 1 December, upon official withdrawal via submission of a Course Exit or Unit Withdrawal form. The refund is dependent upon the time elapsed and materials already purchased, supplied or utilised at the time of withdrawal. Fee-for-service coursesTThe following refund information applies to all domestic students enrolled in a fee-for-service place in a course. This includes Victorian, interstate and temporary residents. Students must officially withdraw via submission of a Course Exit or Unit Withdrawal form.
In 2008, fee-for-service course fee refunds are up to the discretion of the relevant Teaching Centre. Short coursesThe following refund information applies to students enrolled in a fee-for-service short course. - Applications for refunds and transfers will be accepted if a request is received at least five (5) working days prior to the date of course commencement.
- A standard handling charge of $30 will apply for all transfers. There will be a 25% administration fee for all withdrawals from a course.
- A full refund is given only if the class is cancelled.
- No refunds or transfers will apply once a course has commenced.
- Processing of refunds takes a minimum of seven (7) working days.
- All refunds will be made directly to the payee, and will be mailed to the payee's address as shown on the application form.
Degree coursesThe following refund information applies to domestic students enrolled in a higher education (degree level) course. Students must officially withdraw via submission of a Course Exit or Unit Withdrawal form. In 2008, students withdrawing from a course or subject/s on or prior to the subject census date will receive a full refund of fees for those subject/s. No refund applies for a subject once the census date has passed. FEE-HELPIn 2008, for students withdrawing who have deferred payment of their fees through FEE-HELP, the following applies: Students withdrawing from a course or subjects on or prior to the subject census date will have their FEE-HELP application cancelled for those subjects. A FEE-HELP debt will still be incurred by students for those subjects in which they withdraw after the subject census date has passed. International studentsThe following refund information applies to international students enrolled in either TAFE level or higher education (degree level) courses. Students must officially withdraw via submission of a Course Exit or Unit Withdrawal form. In 2008, students withdrawing from a course or subject/s on or prior to the unit census date will receive a full refund of fees for those unit/s. No refund applies for a unit once the census date has passed. Tuition feesTuition fee refunds for international students are calculated by the Box Hill Institute International Student Office, and are subject to specific refund clauses.
