What does this course involve?

As you read this information, please note the course is going to be re-accredited. There will be minor changes to the information provided here.

This advanced course will give you operational, supervisory and technical skills to work in the chemical and oil refining or distribution industries.

You should have significant experience in the Chemical Industry and should have worked at a supervisory or managerial level. The diploma involves integrating plan skills and supervisory skills into a set of skills reflecting the level expected by industry.

You will also develop skills in operating local control systems, learn how to determine energy and mass transfer loads and manage utilities.

You will gain essential teamwork and leadership skills, learn how to promote innovation and change within the workplace, and coordinate customer service strategies.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This leads to work as a process plant operator in the chemical and oil industries. Employment opportunities will have more of a technical and managerial focus than those positions sought after completion of the Certificate IV in Process Plant Technology.

As a student, the Institute’s Employment Service is your first port of call for advice on gaining employment in this field, and can be contacted on 1300 BOX HILL (1300 269 445).
